Kerrang magazine is a rock magazine first published on June 6th 1981 and was first edited by Geoff Barton. The magazine contains band posters, interviews with artists, new and upcoming bands, reviews on albums and K-ratings, release dates and gig dates for both popular and none popular bands.
The name of the magazine (KERRANG) is onomatopoeic, for the sound made by a power chord played on an electric guitar...'Kerrannnngggg'...doesn't really make sense to me but hey. :)
Originally it was a one-off supplement in the 'sounds' newspaper which focused on british heavy metal and the up-coming of hard rock performances. \m/
AC/DC's Angus Young was the first artist featured on Kerrang's front cover.
When nu metal risen, Kerrang started featuring bands such as Slipknot, Linkin Park, Marilyn Manson, Limp Bizkit and Staind, under editor Paul Rees circa 2000 who soon went on to be the editor of 'Q magazine'
